About Righteousness

Overview:

In the Bible, righteousness refers to living in accordance with God's laws and desires. It includes being moral, having a pure heart, and behaving rightly in everyday life. Being righteous means having a good relationship with God and treating others well, embodying fairness, honesty, and virtue that reflect God's own character.  Righteousness is about having a proper relationship and taking appropriate actions, rather than just being virtuous in an abstract sense.

Key Concepts of Biblical Righteousness

Following God's Law: Righteousness is determined by God's perfect standards. A righteous person always strives to do what is right in God's eyes.

Purity and Holiness: This involves cultivating a heart and life that mirror God's perfection in every thought, attitude, and action.

Right Relationships: Righteousness signifies having a "right standing" with God and also maintaining good relationships with others in a community.

Right Conduct: Practicing justice, integrity, and honesty in our interactions with others is a crucial component of righteousness.

God's Own Righteousness: God is the epitome of righteousness, defined by His exact fairness and faithfulness.

 Righteousness in Action

More Than a Concept: Righteousness is not just an abstract idea; it's about putting God's commandments into practice in our daily lives.

Different from Self-Righteousness: True biblical righteousness is a gift from God, not something we earn through our own efforts. Because of human flaws, we can't achieve perfect righteousness on our own.

The Role of Christ: For Christians, righteousness is closely tied to Jesus Christ, who took on the world's sins and allows believers to stand rightly before God.

Here are some King James Version (KJV) Bible verses about righteousness:

God's Holy Word Says

Matthew 5:6: "Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled."

2 Corinthians 5:21: "For he hath made him {to be} sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him."

Romans 3:22: "Even the righteousness of God {which is} by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:"

Romans 10:4: "For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth."

Philippians 3:9: "And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:"

Psalm 145:17: "The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works."

Psalm 37:17: "For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the Lord upholdeth the righteous."

Proverbs 21:3: "To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice."

Isaiah 33:15: "He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaket h his hands from the holding of bribes, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth mine eyes from seeing evil;"

1 Peter 3:14: "But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;"

Stephen's Death

Understanding Matthew 16:25 In the King James Version of the Bible, Matthew 16:25 beautifully encapsulates a powerful spiritual paradox: "For whoever seeks to save their life will lose it; but whoever loses their life for my sake will find it." It's a thought-provoking reminder that sometimes, in the quest for self-preservation and comfort, we might actually miss out on the deeper, more profound life that comes from surrendering ourselves for a greater purpose. The Heartwrenching Death of Stephen Now, if we shift gears a bit and dive into Acts 7:58-60, we find ourselves facing one of the most intense moments in the early Christian church – the execution of Stephen. Stephen wasn’t just your average believer; he was one of the very first deacons appointed to help with the needs of the early church. People recognized him for his incredible faith, wisdom, and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in his life. Unfortunately, this great calling came at a high price. God's Hol...

cubierta de cabeza

1 Corintios 11:4-13 RV 1909 4.
