The Second Coming of Our Lord Jesus Chris

The Bible contains several profound verses that convey the importance of being prepared for the unexpected return of Jesus, especially in the context of living in sin. Among them, Matthew 24:42-44 serves as a striking reminder of this urgency. In these verses, we are urged to remain vigilant and ready because the Son of Man will arrive at a moment that catches many by surprise. The passage underscores the crucial point that just as a homeowner would have taken precautions had they known when a thief would strike, so too should we be on guard, recognizing that Jesus' second coming will come unexpectedly. The passage resonates with a powerful message: "Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come." This stern exhortation encourages believers to maintain a state of constant watchfulness, reflecting on the suddenness and unpredictability of His return.

Another significant scripture that echoes this is found in 1 Thessalonians 5:2-4. These verses draws a vivid analogy, comparing the return of the Lord to a thief in the night, emphasizing its sudden nature. It warns us that while many might proclaim peace and security, destruction will come upon them swiftly, just like labor pains upon a pregnant woman. Importantly, this scripture reassures believers that they are not engulfed in darkness, implying a strong expectation that we should be faithfully attuned to the times, ready and prepared rather than caught off guard. The message is clear: we must not allow ourselves to live in disobedience, complacency or ignorance.

Similarly, Luke 12:40 succinctly commands, "Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not." This directive emphasizes the necessity of being prepared at all times, reinforcing the notion that Christ's return will indeed be sudden and without warning. It serves as a wake-up call for those who might indulge in spiritual lethargy, insisting that readiness is not simply recommended but is vital.

James 5:8 further implores believers to "establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand." This statement encourages us to fortify our inner selves, preparing our hearts and minds for the imminent return of the Lord. There is a palpable urgency in this verse, serving as a reminder that time is of the essence in our race for salvation.

In 1 Peter 1:13, the instruction to "gird up the loins of your mind" adds a vivid metaphorical layer to the idea of preparedness. Just as one would physically prepare for a journey by tying up loose garments, we are called to prepare ourselves mentally and spiritually for Christ’s return. This involves being sober-minded and focused, diligently holding onto hope for the grace that is promised to us at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Moreover, Hebrews 10:25 encourages believers to prioritize community and fellowship, instructing us not to neglect gathering together as some have done. Instead, we should uplift and motivate each other, especially as the day of Christ's return draws near. The assembly of believers serves as a vital support system, fostering a sense of urgency and accountability among one another.

In summary, the teachings across these verses reflect a consistent theme of readiness and awareness. They call us not only to be vigilant about our spiritual state but also to engage with our church, ensuring that we are prepared for the unexpected return of Jesus Christ. Ignoring this call can lead to living in darkness, while embracing it leads to a life filled with hope and anticipation for His glorious return.

 Parable of the Ten Virgins

Let's discuss the significance of oil-filled lamps in the context of the KJV Bible's Parable of the Ten Virgins found in Matthew 25:1-13. This parable emphasizes the importance of being ready for the bridegroom (Christ) by having a sufficient supply of the Holy Spirit, represented by the oil, rather than solely possessing a 'lamp' (symbolizing one's ministry or public faith). The wise virgins came prepared with extra oil, while the foolish ones did not, which made all the difference when the bridegroom arrived.

Here’s the breakdown of the parable: Ten virgins, who symbolize believers, set out with their lamps to meet the bridegroom. Out of these ten, five were wise and five were foolish. The distinction was clear: the wise ones had extra oil in their vessels, whereas the foolish ones brought no additional oil at all. When the bridegroom’s arrival was delayed, all the virgins fell asleep. At midnight, a shout announced that the bridegroom was coming, but the foolish virgins found their lamps extinguished and turned to the wise ones for oil. The wise virgins denied them, explaining that there wouldn’t be enough for everyone and suggested they buy their own.

By the time the foolish virgins returned, the bridegroom had already arrived, and those who were ready entered the wedding feast, leaving the foolish ones shut out.

Now, let’s delve into the spiritual implications. The lamp symbolizes a believer's outer life, their ministry, or their visible faith. The oil stands for the Holy Spirit, divine grace, and the essential preparation of one’s spirit. Wisdom involves cultivating a deep personal relationship with God and consistently engaging in righteous living, effectively increasing your 'oil' (Holy Spirit) supply. This entails practices like prayer, studying scripture, being obedient, and striving for holiness.

Conversely, foolishness is characterized by a lack of spiritual preparation, relying solely on a superficial display of faith without developing the inner spiritual life. These individuals will find they are devoid of the necessary 'oil' to stay spiritually prepared

The Holy Word of God Says:

Revelation 1:7 - Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

Hebrews 9:28 - So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

Matthew 25:31-46

King James Version

31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Titus 2:13 - Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

Revelation 19: 11-16

King James Version

11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.

13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.

15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King Of Kings, And Lord Of Lords

1 Thessalonians 5:2 - For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.

And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;

I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.

Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.

10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

King James Version

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord

Stephen's Death

Understanding Matthew 16:25 In the King James Version of the Bible, Matthew 16:25 beautifully encapsulates a powerful spiritual paradox: "For whoever seeks to save their life will lose it; but whoever loses their life for my sake will find it." It's a thought-provoking reminder that sometimes, in the quest for self-preservation and comfort, we might actually miss out on the deeper, more profound life that comes from surrendering ourselves for a greater purpose. The Heartwrenching Death of Stephen Now, if we shift gears a bit and dive into Acts 7:58-60, we find ourselves facing one of the most intense moments in the early Christian church – the execution of Stephen. Stephen wasn’t just your average believer; he was one of the very first deacons appointed to help with the needs of the early church. People recognized him for his incredible faith, wisdom, and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in his life. Unfortunately, this great calling came at a high price. God's Hol...
